Your Opinions (on God, the Bible and Religion)

Even if you've arrived here by accident, please take a minute to leave a comment with your views on the following:

1. Is the Bible the true word of God and/or Jesus, or is it just a collection of stories written by man? Has it remained intact and pure over the centuries or has it been twisted around and changed by man to suit those in power?

2. How did humans come about on earth? Were we created by an omnipotent God; did we evolve naturally from lower life forms; are we the result of some sort of engineering or modification by a superior race; or did we get here by some other means?

3. Does organized religion help to guide us, or is it simply a tool to control the masses?

Thank you for your time :)

  1. 1. I believe the Bible is the true word of God. I believe it has remained mostly intact. My belief is based on the fact that so many ancient copies of this document still exist - some of which I have seen with my own eyes.
    2. God created humans as He said He did. Whether He used some form of Darwinian evolution has less evidence for it than the Bible itself.
    3. Organized religion is full of humans. Humans are naturally self-centered and selfish. That's why humans have a problem. God loves us and sees our problem of clinging to our own ways and provided a better way through faith in Jesus Christ.
As for me, my life is unmanagable and overwhelming without Christ. I have the evidence of my own changed life when I am abiding in Him. You pose some crazy questions and I hope you find answers that bring you peace. I found your blog when looking for a mermaid image and saw a picture of a mermaid in a tea cup.

  2. On second thought, I've read a few more of your posts. I don't get the impression that you are really posing question as much as having fun with semantics. That's okay. Have fun.

  3. I concur with everything Raechick has said except to go one step further. I can fully trust scripture to be the Truth as God intends because my God is so awesome as to be capable of creating this world and everything in it, so ensuring that His Word says what He wants it to is no tough task for Him. And scripture verifies not only His existence, but provides us with proof that He is utterly in control, as 90% of the prophecies have all come true, and many of the rest are absolutely unfolding right before our eyes. You can trust scripture and you can trust Him!

God absolutely created mankind and thus He has a right to do with us as He desires. Organised religion is of no value if it doesn't point people to the One True God of Israel as outlined in scripture. And the true Church ultimately is nothing to do with buildings or denominations, but those who are fully and totally committed to God's plan for their lives through Jesus and His gift of salvation through the Cross.

God only grants knowledge and understanding of His Word to those willing to truly seek it - being facetious won't get you anywhere, but repentence and submission to the God of the Bible will gain you eternal life.
    Blessings. TKR :)

Has it remained intact and pure over the centuries or has it been twisted around and changed by man to suit those in power?" My reply: It is proven in this website: www.netzarim.co.il (the Christian page) what the Creator's purpose for humankind is and which book that is in accordance with His purpose. Essential reading!

There is a Creator that created the universe. Read a proof here: bloganders.blogspot.com (left menu)... Science will never conflict with a Perfect and Intelligent Creator. There is an evolution. But evolution occured because of the prime conditions that the universe was initialized with.

Be blessed when you practise the instructions of the Creator.

    Have a great day ! /Anders

  7. Well, my belief in one true God comes only from my hope that there is something beyond death and not from the bible. I wonder-did God create man or did man create God? I mean is the sole purpose of any religion to provide comfort and a sense of somebody out there will take care of me when I croak. Did the ancient clergy come up with this to maintain control over us? Naaahhhh. That would be too simple of an explanation. I digress. I have many questions I want to ask God such as WHY?? Why did God need man? Were the angels not enough worshippers for you? Next question: why was Judas criminalized?
Did he not carry out your will? Next question: Where is Waldo? (oh I think God certainly has a sense of humor-I submit two examples: the platypus and TV evangelists) Anyway before I really start rambling I will close with this:
What do you suppose would happen if those who believe in the God of the King James bible suddenly stopped? I mean at the same time everyone just stopped believing-not necessarily start worshipping satan but just totally lose their faith in God. Do you suppose He might make an unscheduled appearance to remind us of who is really in charge?

  9. 1. I believe the Bible is the word of the Lord, and has remained intact and applicable to this day. Translations can never be as accurate as the original text (which, in the Bible's case, is Hebrew) but the monks and priests who spent their lives translating it so the common people could read made sure that it was as close as it could be.
    2. 'God created man and woman in His image.' That's all I need to know :) I do not believe in evolution.
    3. Personally, I just don't like organized religion. I like it because of the support and help and answers I can get from the people. But, I know that it is a lifeline for some, so it definitely is a guide.

I believe the Bible is the true word of God, and that it has remained intact and pure - albeit in its original language. Translation by definition means that it loses some of its meaning.

    2. How did humans come about on earth? Were we created by an omnipotent God; did we evolve naturally from lower life forms; are we the result of some sort of engineering or modification by a superior race; or did we get here by some other means?

I believe in the Bible - I am an Evangelical Christian - but I also believe in evolution and the big bang theory. I believe it is completely possible and consistent to believe in both.

    3. Does organized religion help to guide us, or is it simply a tool to control the masses?

The keyword here is "organized". I tend to have a problem with organized religion. It promotes violence, hatred, sectarian violence, war, and terrorism, and this is true throughout history of all organized religions. At the same time I believe organized religion in itself is neither inherently good nor evil. It has the capacity for both, and has been used to both ends.

    preface to the answers:

i do not have a system of beliefs. i go by intuition, as i always have throughout my life. it has never- NEVER- done me wrong or judged me. with that one thing in mind, look over the many posts that start with "I believe...". when you place a belief in something, you box yourself in and immediately box out any other possibilities. beliefs make for great prisons. seriously: look at all the times all these posters have written "I believe...".

    1. tracing the roots of the bible, it was NEVER intended to be what it is today: a tool for controlling the masses, to the extent that the masses can be 'controlled'. the bible is (still, even though it's been screwed with over the centuries by very clever people) the world's foremost leading tome on the study of ASTROTHEOLOGY, par excellence. the bible is littered with references to astrology, or astrotheology. all it takes is a little study to determine this, all of the proof is in the book itself, it just takes someone who can read it without the rose-colored-glasses of religion....someone who can THINK. the jesus myth is ridiculous on it's face. the jesus myth has shown up in cultures worldwide, at various times, and it's basically all the same story. it's a story. jesus, god, muhammed, allah, jehovah... all created by people with agendas... agendas which include controlling the masses. don't take my word for it, go look. go find what i'm talking about and see for yourself. i have no reason to lie to anyone, i have no real agenda aside from honestly answering the questions posed here. if you think i'm wrong or crazy, PROVE IT. the proof i speak of is in the bible itself. go look and see if i'm wrong.

    2. in order to figure out how we got here we must first figure out how we did NOT get here:

-we were NOT created by some omnipotent power that insists we worship it. that's just ridiculous. where's the proof?
--we did not evolve from lower life forms. there's no proof.
---engineering modification by a superior race? which race would that be? where can we find them to ask if this is true? again, no proof.
----some other means? like what? can you figure out a better story than the god/jesus myth? if you can, there's a spot for you in one of the many secret societies that dot the planet like a bad rash.

you know, instead of focusing on where we came from, let's look at where we're going. how important is history? is it relevant? where are we going? most of us are going nowhere. most people are just going to turn to sludge and die in front of the TEEEEEEVEEEEEE and DWTS or AGT or some dumbass show glorifying cops, remote in one hand, 64-oz soda in the other, sack of McJunkfood on the floor, half-eaten. when you read the bible and discard all the jesus and god stuff, what are you left with? astrology. the ancient advanced civilizations had nothing to do but math and star-studying. they did it with great care and precision. they knew what they were talking about. the jesus/god stuff in the bible was created and woven into the fabric of it over a very long stretch of time. gullible people BELIEVE the myths. and look at what has become of the world because of BELIEFS.

    3. organized religion does what it does best: population control, period. organized religion helps guide people absolutely away from what the bible is really for. the world could use a lot less organized religion.

btw, some of these posts are really very weird. there are a lot of very weird people whose minds have been fucked with for so long everything they say is ridiculous.

...and if you really want to know who we are and where we're going, i would suggest you find your natal star chart and figure out where the sun was when you were born, what planets were in retrograde, and the positioning of the moon. that will set you on the road to discovery and maybe even freedom.
